Avalanche fatality near Cascade

There was a confirmed avalanche fatality by Rock Lake in the backcountry near Cascade yesterday. Two snowmobilers were caught, one was injured and one was completely buried and killed. The Payette Avalanche Center is investigating the slide today. PAC will also be issuing an avalanche advisory tomorrow morning. More details will be released as soon as the Sheriff’s Office concludes their investigation. The accident yesterday was the second avalanche fatality in the US this winter, it was also the second confirmed avalanche fatality ever in Valley County .  The other  Valley Co. fatality occurred in 1996 in this same area near Rock Lake on an early season snowpack.
